Truth by T.E. Colver III (Terentius EAgan)
I dreamt I was worn out from school. I went to a preppy college where the guys still wore slacks and vests and girls skirts and such. It was the weekend and really early in the morning. My friends and I had just gotten back from a beach party that had lasted all night and we had to stop by the grocery store. Rach, Chris, Lucas, Eric and I had carpooled together. I was so tired I couldn’t even stand much less find food so Eric and Lucas took me home to Mom’s because it was near by and I was supposed to go with them to a cook out at a camp that night.
I must’ve slept all day because the next thing I know I’m walking the grounds of the camp that is lit by Chinese lanterns. As I walk over to the tables filled with food I notice a guy staring at me. He looked really familiar so I turned to get a better look at him. He smiled and siad that I looked really familiar to him and I said that he did too. We realized we were in the same Lit class at school. His name was Silas and he was dark haired and Russian. He still had a very pronounced accent and his face had very strong bones. I spent the whole night talking to him. (apparently I was single in this dream) He was really nice and we decided to meet up in the library on Monday to research our upcoming book reviews together. I hadn’t even checked out my book. It was called Truth and was supposed to be a great american novel which meant that it’s three main charachters were probably all bound to die or something equally depressing. Anyways, it didn’t sound very interesting. The next day during school I was reading my novel which Crystal had loaned me, apparently she loved that book. It seemed to drag to me. I was reading about the girl running into a rich, charming, school mate in the hallway on her way to get to class. The author was taking a whole chapter to describe it and it seemed really cliche to me. Ironically The bell rang signaling that I was late to class. I jumped up and ran towards the stairs narrowly escaping having a door opened into my face. Unfortunately I did run into the two people coming out of it. One of the guys fell and his hand caught my necklace snapping it. I didn’t see where it went and started franticaly searching for it. I reigned in my urge to kick the two idiots who where getting up off the floor. The blond guy helped me find it and introduced himself as Terrence but his friend called him EAgan so I used that as well wanting to let him know That his promise to have the necklace repaired hardly made up for me having to walk in late to my Lit class. I shoved past him irritated that he didn’t seem bothered by any of what had happened and was talking down to me like a child he was trying to pacify. I didn’t meet SIlas but over the next few days I got to know both him and EAgan pretty well. They were very different. SIlas was sweet and loved to read and I could talk to him about anything. EAgan was harder and not so open while still managing to be charasmatic. His father was on the board of trustees at the school. I found myself spending more time with him and less with Silas. Silas picked up on it and asked finally if we could actually go research our books together. I said yes but I had to grab by materials from home. We stopped by there and he waitied in the living room with Cryss and Mom who were watching a movie that Cryss had brought over. When I walked back into the living room Cryss mentioned it was over my book so I watched a little but I had missed the beginning and was a little confused so I decided to watch it later. We went to library and I told Silas a bit about my book on the way. We walked through the stack books for a while searching for my book. Finally I came upon half a row of books reviewing my book and finally to my book itself. I hadn’t known who wrote itbecause I don’t pay much attention to authors. Silas picked up the book. It was old and bound in blue, read the spine to me, “Truth by T.E. Colver the third.” He opened it and read,” …she was still mad at me as she ran up the stairs to go to class..” It hadn’t hit me til then. I grabbed the book from him and opened to the copy right page. Truth by Terentius EAgan Colver III. A scene in the library from the movie Cryss had on flashed before me. He was going to walk by the stacks any minute now and if his look mirrored the actors look from the film, he would know that I knew. I didn’t trust him at all at this point. I grabbed Silas and was trying to drag him out of the aisle when EAgan and his friends walked by grinning. We turned and started running the other way. I explained to Silas what was going on on the way back to my house. We got inside and started rewinding the movie to the hallway scene. It happened exactly as above. Then I woke up and I don’t know who started the whole conspiracy. My lit teacher? EAgan? The whole book was already written in published. I was afraid though to look forward and read what would happen because classics usually end badly and EAgan already seemed a bit stalkerish to me.
